A letter to America

I had an idea the other day to write a book that was modeled something like Paul's letters to the Corinthians and address it to America.  It's not a bad idea really but I'm not sure I could really pull it off.  I began to think about all the issues American culture and life bring to the table and I began to think about the volumes of work a letter like this would require. Paul's letter was addressed to the church in Corinth and unfortunately there isn't really a church of America, in fact if we just counted the catholic and protestant churches we could write over 300 letters to just the denominations that exist in America; quite a task to say the least. So where to start, if Paul were to address a letter to the church in America, where would he start, what would he see as the main issues?

Please send me your feedback, I would love to hear what you think Paul would say to us.

  3. Bryan,

First, I believe that there is such thing as the Church of America. While each local church has its own personality and distinctions, there are certain issues that the church of America is facing as a whole.

Secondly, I wonder if the idea of writing a letter to the Church of America came from you, or it may be the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Knowing you, I tend to believe that the second may ne true.

Rather that writing my own perspective on what I believe God would say to the Church of America on this forum, I would pray that God will continue His work in guiding you regarding its content. I do believe that the church of America is in a serious crisis, just as the nation in which she lives. I believe that God wants to use His church to restore America to its former glory. The question is, how can she (the church) do that? What can she do about her own condition? How can she become again a voice that can influence the values of our country, and our nation's faith in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ?

If you do write this leter - and I hope you will - I would very much want to have a copy of it... not to judge, but to hear what the Lord would say to me, as well.

    Blessings and strength!
